(December 6, 2017)

Darshan Academy Meerut observed National Education Day on 11 November 2017 to commemorate the birth anniversary of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, prominently known as the first Union Cabinet Minister of Education and for his great contribution to the cause of education in India. The Academy was successful in its efforts to create awareness on how “National Education Day” has proved to be a great impetus to the efforts of the government, educational bodies and faculties. The day began with the enthusiastic speeches by the senior students of classes X-XII in the morning assembly highlighting the importance and the need of celebration of National Education Day. Students were informed about the importance and advantages of education, including skill development and vocational training. The Academy organized different activities for inculcating greater awareness on the fact that basic education is the right of every Indian citizen such as Slogan writing on placards and bookmarks, Poster making, and Essay writing, etc. Students engaged in different sub themes, as follows: • Classes III – V: ‘Sanitation in and around the School’ • Class VI: ‘Promoting Health and Well-being’ • Class VII: ‘Environmental Issues’ • Class VIII: ‘Empowering Girl Child’ • Class IX: ‘21st Century Skills’ Students of the primary section (I-V) prepared cards bearing educational quotes which were distributed by them in their neighbourhood to create awareness. They also wrote a biography of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and narrated anecdotes on education from his autobiography. The enthusiasm with which the students presented their own views on the assigned sub-themes and pledged to eradicate illiteracy from the grass roots level was praiseworthy.
