House Investiture Ceremony, Delhi

“Leaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life.” Believing in this dictum, Darshan Academy organized the House Investiture Ceremony on the onset of the new academic session to appoint the young students as leaders for the session 2017-18. Mr. Nirbhay Narula, the Assistant Governor of Rotary International District, Zone-2 was the Chief Guest and Ms. Suman Sikka was the Master of Ceremonies for the program. The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting followed by an entertaining welcome dance. Principal Mr. A David welcomed the gathering with his enlightening words. Ms. Veena Ahi, Senior Academic Coordinator, administered the oath taking ceremony where the young leaders confirmed their objective “to be responsible and organized”. The leaders received their badges and sachets by the honourable Chief Guest and Principal. On this day, the future leaders reaped the fruit of their hard work and achievements. “Wings of Fire”, the musical ballet presented by the four houses, grabbed everyone’s attention. This presentation ignited the spark of achieving success in everyone’s heart by showcasing the hardship, simplicity and inspirational qualities of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The distinguished Chief Guest Mr. Nirbhay Narula addressed the gathering and was glad to make the school a member of the Rotary Interact Club. He honoured the students by awarding prizes to the winners for their achievements from the inter-house competitions during session 2016-17. The most awaited championship trophy for the best house of the year was awarded to ‘Darshan House’. Ms. Anjali Keswani, in charge of Darshan House along with the captain, vice-captain and other team members witnessed the proud moment by receiving the trophy. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the Senior Academic Coordinator, Ms. Veena Ahi, who appreciated the sincere efforts of everyone for making this event a big success.

Friendly Basketball Match, Meerut

Darshan Academy Meerut hosted a friendly basketball match on 06 May 2017. The match was played between the teams from Darshan Academy and St. John’s school. It was organized with the purpose of providing the students an exposure to competitive matches.
The game was organized during the activity periods. St. John’s won a highly energetic match while the students continuously cheered for the home team (students of classes IX, X & XI). Winning or losing are lessons in life that all need to understand and the team felt extremely happy with their efforts and teamwork. Both the teams were provided refreshments in a friendly environment after the program.

Medical Health Check-Up Camp, Meerut

A four-day Medical Health Check-up Camp for the students of grades Nursery to X was held at Darshan Academy Meerut from 2nd through 5th May 2017 with the purpose of ensuring proper health of the students. The camp was organized in accordance with the CBSE norms to fulfil the requirement for annual school health check-ups. In association with a team of ten doctors from Subharti Medical College, Meerut, under the able guidance of Dr. Pawan Parashar (Professor Community Medicine), the team comprised of a General Physician, a Dentist, an Eye-specialist, Technicians for height and weight measurement and Gynecologists. On the opening day of the camp, all the doctors were given a traditional welcome by the students from the primary section. Health check-ups were held in the computer lab due to its spaciousness. All the classes went according to the schedule given to them. Each student had their medical card with them for the entries. In the case of the tiny-tots (Nursery, LKG and UKG), many parents accompanied their wards and got their queries resolved. Senior students were also able to share their health related questions with the concerned specialists. The health check-ups proved to be a great help and successful initiative for the students.

New Parents Orientation Program, Lucknow

Darshan Academy, Lucknow held a New Parents Orientation Program on 22nd April 2017. The parents received a warm welcome arriving at the school. The program started with five minutes. The head of academy gave the Welcome address. Next teachers explained about the philosophy and vision of the school. They highlighted the benefits of meditation, its positive effect on our lives, the importance of the Spiritual Curriculum, and the DA Four Agreements students need to follow. A power point was shown which depicted the multisensory approach of teaching. A presentation on activity based learning, the rules and regulations and academic policies were also discussed. In conclusion, Mr. M.S. Bhatia, Manager, thanked everyone for attending and commented on the instructive program.

World Red Cross Day, Delhi

World Red Cross Day was celebrated at Darshan Academy on its premises to commemorate the birthday of Henri Dunant, founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross, whose aim is to provide relief to human beings in distress due to war, food shortage, epidemic diseases and natural calamities.

The celebration began with a special assembly where students participated enthusiastically, starting with an inspiring thought-provoking speech and an impressive skit highlighting the work of the Red Cross team across various countries. A scintillating group dance performance conveyed a message that things can be much better if people serve together - if we extend a helping hand whenever there is a need, the situation in the world today would be much better. The assembly concluded with a message encouraging Selfless Service. Ms. Leena, the program coordinator ended the program on a beautiful note, “Have a heart, lend a hand, stand out and make a difference!!”
